New global team-based MMA league , “Global Fight League” secures some big names in their first draft

Global Fight League also known as GFL, too the combat sports world by storm when it was announced in the fall of 2024. GFL has revolutionized the combat sports world by implementing a true team-based league model for MMA. Not only that, GFL athletes will become equitable partners with 50% of all revenue going directly to them. They will also be contributing 8% of each athletes purse into a retirement fund and 2% going to insurance.

Teams will include athletes of the highest level, including former UFC World Champions. The team-based model includes 4 continents, 4 nations, for a total of 6 teams; New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Sao Paulo, London and Dubai.

The GFL draft took place on January 24, 2025 securing some of the biggest names in the sport of MMA including , Tony Ferguson, Tyron Woodley, Junior Dos Santos, Yoel Romero, Anthony Pettis Chad Mendes, Chris Weidman, Urijah Faber and many more. Not only that, the draft was a huge success on combat sports social media becoming the #1 trending on X ,a global PR Impression of 1.1 billion and 21.2 Million Impressions on social media.

The season Regular Season looks to kick off in April 2025 with team vs team match ups. Scoring is as follows: 4 points for a finish win, 3 points for decision win, 2 points for a draw, 1 for a decision loss and 0 for a finish loss.
